Who we are
Hi! We are Local Harvest a group of people with a passion for fresh fruit and hard work. Seeing people enjoy our produce makes us happy and hearing from all our regular customers fills our hearts. We have relationships with over 75 farms in the state of Michigan, and love searching for the next best fruit or veggie.
history
Local Harvest was founded in 2015 by Mitch and Emily, but has been a fruit stand for as long as many people can remember. In the 1950’s -1980’s the fruit stand was owned by Wally, with the grocery store The Blue Lamb on the Southwest corner of the current lot. Wally owned the stand until Joe Jackson took over the stand from the late 1980’s to mid 2000’s. Joe was great man and ran a wonderful business for over thirty years, selling some of the finest fruit in Southwest Michigan. Unfortunately, Joe lost his battle with cancer several years ago and the stand was left vacant. In the late 2000’s the stand was reopened as Growers Junction for a few years, but became vacant once again. In 2010 Local Harvest was opened by David Truhn who ran the stand until 2014. We now work hard to restore the stand above and beyond the state it was in when Joe Jackson passed away. Today the fruit stand is owned and operated by Mitch.
